![]() A variety of participants appeared in strength, age, and gender. From 6 years old to 76 years old, from being rated under 1000 to being rated over 2000, their love of the game brought them together (along with some great home made cookies courtesy of local chess mom Eileen Schmakel) to do battle with the newly relocated Grandmaster. The battle did not last for long though! Josh bulldozed through his opposition in just a little over 2 hours and the only ones left standing were experts Sam Schmakel and Robert Loncarevic. We've provided these two games for your enjoyment as they were the only draws that happened. Josh collected a score of 19 wins, 0 losses, and 2 draws. 5429

Each month the North Shore Chess Center brings a master for various types of events, from chess lectures, to general lectures, to simuls. Past masters have included GM Susan Polgar in December, IM Florin Felecan in January and February, WGM Lufei Ruan in March, and now GM Josh Friedel. Which master will make an appearance in May? Only time will tell! To keep up with what's happening at the North Shore Chess Center you can visit us on the Internet at http://www.nachess.org. |
