gibraltar-2011-130.jpgUS Women's Champion IM Irina Krush had a strong start at the 2011 Tradewise Gibraltar Chess Festival (January 24-February 3), defeating the strong GM Nisipeanu in round three. Unfortunately, she finished with a tough loss and a final score of 5.5/10. GM Vassily Ivanchuk took clear first with an incredible 2900+ tournament performance rating and 9/10 while GM Nana Dzagnidze took the women's prize with 7/10. IM Anna Zatonskih and Olympic team members GM Varuzhan Akobian and GM Alexander Onischuk all finished with 6.5/10, while GM Ray Robson had 6/10. GM Giorgi Kacheishvili (pictured below), lives in the United States but plays for the Republic of Georgia--he scored 7/10.
