K-12 Unrated

April rating supplement will be used. Players must disclose other Over-the-Board (OTB) ratings with entry. Players with other OTB ratings may be moved to a different section at the discretion of US Chess.

Team score is total of top four finishers from each school per section.
A team must have at least two players but no maximum number of players. The top four scores in any section will count for the team score. All players on a team must come from the same school.

National Championship
First place individual and team in the K-12 Championship section, including ties, will be the National High School Champion.

Time Control: Game/120 d5
Each player has 120 minutes to complete the game with a 5 second grace period each move.



This is a US Chess National Scholastic Championship tournament. You must meet US Chess eligibility requirements to play. Click here to review our Scholastic Regulations. Contact US Chess to resolve potential eligibility questions BEFORE entering or making travel arrangements.


Entry Fee:   $50 post marked or online by March 26, $70 by April 16, $85 by April 25, $90 on site.
$5.00 extra for all phone registrations.
$20 change fee for roster or section changes after April 16 or any on site changes.
Players registering after 11 a.m. Friday will not be paired for round 1, will receive a 1/2 bye for round 1, and will begin play with round 2.
One 1/2 point bye available any round except 7 if requested with entry or before 11 a.m. Friday. ZERO point byes may be requested for any round and should be requested at least 2 hours before the start of the round.

Schedule:
Opening ceremony Friday 12:45 p.m.
Rounds: Friday 1 p.m. - 7 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. - 7 p.m., Sunday 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Awards Ceremony: Sunday 7 p.m. (approximately)

National High School Blitz Championship (G/5;d0)
Thursday 5 p.m., entry fee $15 by 4/25, $20 after or on site.
Registration closes at 2 p.m.

Blitz Rules

National High School Bughouse Championship (G/5;d0):
Thursday 11 a.m., $25 per 2-player team on site only. Registration 9-10 a.m. One section K-12.
Trophies (2 each) to top 5 teams.
Bughouse Rules

Family and Friends Tournament (G/30;d5):
4SS, G/30. Saturday 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., $20 onsite registration only. Rated and Unrated sections. Trophies for each category of combined player/student results.

Any roster changes made after April 16th or on site will incur a $20 change fee.

Book Signing at Bookstore (Delaware AB)

Written especially for students with a middle school reading level or above, Great Moves: Learning Chess Through History is a new cross-curricular textbook from the NSCF that teaches chess and social studies.

FIDE Master Sunil Weeramantry and co-author Robert McLellan will be in the bookstore to autograph copies of their new book on Friday, April 27 from 4 to 5:30 pm and on Saturday, April 28 from 11 am to 12 noon and from 4 to 5 pm.
