|June 19, 2011|
Surprises continue to mark the 2011 New York International (June 17-22) which began with an upset by the young Aleksandr Ostrovskiy over the #1 seed, GM Pentala Harikrishna. IM Robert Hungaski is in the clear lead with a perfect score ahead of nine GMs. Robert defeated two GMs,
Mikheil Kekelidze and Timur Gareyev. See full standings on the Marshall Chess Club website and find live games on ICC under MarshallNYI11.
Robert Hungaski was featured in a popular blitz video with IM Greg Shahade, and was also interviewed last year for the US Chess Scoop. Look for a Scoop video after the New York International concludes.
