Benjamin takes up the challenge presented by 16 ... Qb6, using what might
be his only opportunity to get in the disruptive move e4-e5. Now 17 ... dxe5
18 dxe5 can be followed up by the fracturing 19 e6, after Black moves his
queen. On the other hand, 17 ... d5 seems to allow White a steady advantage,
as White has established a kingside space advantage out of nowhere. A strange
possibility for Black here is 17 ... Nd8, which both guards against the threat
18 d5, and stops sacrifices with e5-e6.
