Petrus J. Wirth (1921-2004)

Petrus J. Wirth, 82, of Cumberland Crossings Retirement Community, Carlisle, PA, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, in Cumberland Crossings.

Born July 4, 1921, in the Hague, Netherlands, he was a son of the late Henri P. and Anna G. (Houtzagers) Wirth.

He was a retired captain of the Royal Netherlands Navy. After his retirement he worked for 20 years with the Virginia Beach School System, teaching homebound children.

Mr. Wirth is survived by his wife, Johanna Wirth of Cumberland Crossings; two daughters, Annelies J. Wing of Brussels and Petra Wirth of Carlisle; a son, Henry Philippe Wirth of the Netherlands; three brothers; a sister; two granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held in the Cumberland Crossing Retirement Community dining hall. The Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, were in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Wirth was a USCF member and carried an Established over-the-board rating of 1480.
