Aivars I. Trusis (1938-1999)

Aivars I. Trusis of Fairhaven, Massachusetts died in early January 1999 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, Massachusetts - several days before his 61st birthday. He was born on January 7, 1938 in Latvia, the son of Karl and Zenta (Abrins) Trusis, and came to the United States with his parents in 1950, settling in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He moved to New Bedford, Massachusetts in 1959 and then to neighboring Fairhaven in 1972.

From June 1982 to September 1984, Mr. Trusis was editor-in-chief of Chess Horizons, the official publication of the Massachusetts Chess Association. He produced 14 issues of the award-winning magazine for the state chapter. His last published rating was 2134.

He is buried in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven.
