Did you know that Alan Truscott, Bridge Editor of the New York Times was the chess champ of Oxford University for four consecutive years? Mr. Truscott who died on Sunday September 4, 2005, was known for his bridge-playing and his bridge column which was printed in the NY Times from 1964 until recently. As Bridge Editor of the New York Times, he gained a great deal of fame. However, he was also a chess player. In addition, Mr Truscott learned the game of bridge as a British schoolboy.
