The Pan-American Championships are heating up in South Padre Island, Texas. Home team and top seeded University of Texas at Brownsville drew with University of Texas at Dallas B in round three. IM Salvijus Bercys defeated GM Mauricio Flores, canceling out GM  Axel Bachmann's win over GM Amon Simutowe.

This leaves only two perfect teams with 3/3: University of Texas at Dallas A and University of Maryland Baltimore County A. Both teams got through lower rated but dangerous squads. UTD A beat Stanford University led by FM Elliot Liu and Texas Tech A, with IMs Davorin Kuljasevic, Gabor Papp and Gergely Antal while UMBC defeated New York University led by IM Zhe Quan and FM Mackenzie Molner. Look for more GM vs. GM or IM face-offs as the tournament heats up.
