As soon as chessplayers slept off the turkey, Major Grand Prix tournaments began in Los Angeles with the American Open (Nov.26-29) and Philadelphia with the National Chess Congress (Nov.27-29). The American Open actually began on Thanksgiving day with a four-day schedule which features GM Melikset Khachiyan and IM Enrico Sevillano. See standings here. Look for tales on CLO from the American Open by organizer Randy Hough.

National Congress participants include GMs Sergey Kudrin, Alexander Fishbein, defending champ IM Bryan Smith and IM Irina Krush.
