Saint Louis to Host 2010 U.S. Championship

The Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis will host the 2010 U.S. Championship from April 23 to May 6, with 24 competitors vying for at least $130,000 in prize money. Read the official press release here for details on the composition of the 24 qualifiers. Seven players are already determined- the defending Champion, Hikaru Nakamura, the U.S. Junior Champion, Ray Robson and the top five players from the U.S. Open, GMs Dmitry Gurevich, Sergei Kudrin, Jesse Kraai, Alex Yermolinsky and GM-elect Alex Lenderman. On Labor Day weekend at the U.S. Senior Open in Tulsa, Oklahoma, another player will qualify.

Look for more details as the tournament approaches. The CCSCSL will also host the 2009 U.S. Women's Championship from October 3-13, and the field for that tournament will be announced soon.
