That was certainly true for Alice Cooper in 1972, as reflected
in their mega-hit of the same name. And it may be true for most of
the country today.But that hasn't stopped the members of the Stevenson Elementary School Chess Club in Bellevue, Washington, from getting together and blogging their responses to NASA Astronaut Greg Chamitoff's moves in the Earth vs. Space match.
Anticipating the response of the young Wizards (29 ... Rxc5), Dr. Chamitoff quickly responded with 30.axb5. Just as quickly, Stevenson responded with two reasonable options for "hoo-maans" to consider:
30 ... axb5 and 30 ... Rcxb5.
And now it is up to our fellow Earthlings to decide the course of action. Choose wisely, as this move will most likely determine how the rest of the game will be played out!
