IM Zatonskih to Appear at SuperNationals!

U.S. Women's Champion Anna Zatonskih has confirmed her appearance at the 2009 SuperNationals in Nashville, Tennessee (April 3-5). She tells CLO, "I am excited to get back to teaching, and to share my knowledge with some of the thousands of young chess players who are coming to Nashville!" 

Because Anna has a two-year-old daughter, she can sympathize with SuperNationals attendees who have to juggle chess with school work. "I remember five years ago, before the Chess Olympiad in Calvia, Spain, I studied chess for 5-6 hours a day and I exercised for one hour. It is ideal." Now that Zatonskih has less time, she has to focus her energies. She prioritizes analzying games, especially those that she lost and solving difficult tactical problems. She recommends setting those positions up on a real board with pieces rather than trying to solve from a book or computer.

"I wish everyone to have a great tournament. It is big social event as well so I also wish you to have a fun time."
