Although he was leading by a full point going into the round, Yury Shulman was not content to coast. He scored a full point against Julio Becerra with Black, in a wild Winawer that finished on a pretty note:

In the women's, Irina Krush leapfrogged over her main rival, Anna Zatonskih. Anna was on a perfect 5/5 going into the round, but suffered her first loss to Batchimeg Tuvshintugs.

Meanwhile, Irina Krush defeated Chouchanik Airapetian's King Indian Defense with the Four Pawns Attack. Tomorrow, the Krush-Zatonskih match-up begins at 3:30 EST, and the game will likely determine the 2008 U.S. Women's Champion.
