Gata advances to the sweet 16 in the World Cup (Khanty-Mansiysk,
Nov.24-Dec.17.) His round four opponent will be Svidler, who defeated Rublevsky in the tiebreak match. Gata secured his entry into round four with a win yesterday followed by a draw today against GM Kiril Georgiev of Bulgaria. Click here for complete round four results. (Many of the matches will be decided by rapid tiebreak tomorrow.) Meanwhile, Alexander Onischuk lost to Alexei Shirov,
who conducted an inspired attack.
