In his battle against Kamil Miton, Perelshteyn played a the line against the Qc2 Nimzo from Chess Openings for Black, Explained , which Eugene co-authored with Lev Alburt and Roman Dzindzhichasvili. In a face-off between the two most recent Chess Life Magazine cover models, Irina Krush and Boris Gulko, the U.S. Women's Champion prevailed. After 22...Nc2, Boris has no place for his Queen that also holds on to the a4-pawn.

Against Irina, Eugene chose the King's Indian defense, and won in a nice attacking game.
