GM Walter Browne won the 2014 Pan-American Senior Championships in Brazil in December with a score out of 6.5/7. On his blog, FinessebyBrowne, the six-time US Chess Champion wrote, "I won the last four games comfortably including a 'Petrosianesque' game vs Lincoln Lucena who organized an excellent event in Brasilia (the capital of Brazil) back in 1981...the atmosphere was convivial and the final ceremony well attended as GM Darcy Lima gave an excellent speech. I said that I hoped it won't be thirty-three more years before I visit Brazil again!" Check out the blog post, along with an annotated game from the event here. This win qualifies Browne into the World Senior Championship in Italy in November. Find a US Chess Scoop video interview with GM Browne here. |
