Last Day Discount for Millionaire Chess
August 10, 2014

With less than two months to go before the start of the tournament, the Millionaire Chess Open (Las Vegas, October 9-13) is already shaping up to be a tour de force. Currently boasting 530 participants from 37 countries, the event has captured the imagination of players worldwide, including 27 Grandmasters who will compete for the $100K first place prize in the Open section. Currently heading the list of advanced registrants is GM Bu Xiangzhi from China, who once broke the record as the youngest Grandmaster in history. Rounding out the top 5 are GMs Alexey Dreev from Russia, Yangyi Yu from China, Varuzhan Akobian from the USA, and Parimarjan Negi from India.

A slew of players have also registered to take a shot at the $40,000 first place prize being awarded in the lower sections. With the early bird deadline approaching on July 31st, event organizers were stunned to see over 400 players sign up in less than 36 hours. Due to the regret of many who missed the cut-off date, the decision was made to discount the new entry fee of $1,500 to $1,200 for one weekend only. This Sunday, August 10th, marks the last day at the reduced price point.
