UT Dallas and the University of Belgrade Prepare for Match

 

 

(Crossville, TN) The chess teams from the University of Texas at Dallas and the University of Belgrade, Serbia square off in what is now the seventh year of match competition. The online match scheduled for November 2, 2012 has been renamed “The Svetozar Gligoric Transatlantic Cup” in memory of Serbian Grandmaster Svetozar Gligoric. Valentin Yotov, an Arts and Technology major, will play board one for UTD in the online match that pits sixteen students from each school in simultaneous games under the supervision of International Arbiter, Franc Guadalupe. The UTD players may observe their opponents in Serbia via a live connection projected on-screen in the Davidson Auditorium of the Naveen Jindal School of Management at UTD.
