Bahamas International Begins |
October 24, 2012 | |
The Bahamas International (Nassau, October 24-28) may have kicked off with a smaller turnout than expected, with Hurricane Sandy expected to dump oceans of rain on the hotel beach. But the field is very heavy on quality. The field of 18 players is comprised of 5 GMs, 4 IMs and 3 FMs, representing four international chess federations. The powerful quartet from North of the Border is headed up by 2011 Canadian Champion GM Bator Sambuev.
In a field as small and as strong as this one, a foreign opponent is always on every norm hunter's wish list. But you're probably more of a favorite to roll boxcars in the hotel casino than to get an easy pairing in this tournament!
