In the first decisive game of the Candidates Matches in Kazan, Russia (May 3-27), our US chess Champion Gata Kamsky defeated Veselin Topalov on the black side of the Grunfeld. Topalov played a provocative line involving queen-side castling, a decision he later paid dearly for. Update 5/7: After a third round draw, the Kamsky-Topalov match score is 2-1 in Kamsky's favor with one game to go.

The only other player to win after three rounds of play is also in Gata Kamsky's bracket- World Cup champ Boris Gelfand defeated Mamedyarov in a complicated Najdorf. If both Gelfand and Kamsky draw or win tomorrow, they will face off in the semi-finals.

Catch tomorrow's game at 7 AM EST. For more information, see the official site.  Good luck Gata!
