Thanksgiving Open in Saint Louis to Feature Short, Shulman and More

Join legendary GM Nigel Short, former U.S. Champion GM Yury Shulman, Resident GM Ben Finegold and many more in Saint Louis for the Thanksgiving Open November 26-29.

This special event features an $11,000 prize fund, and two-day and three-day options are available to make the tournament easily accessible for all. GM Gregory Kaidanov, GM Dmitry Gurevich, IM Michael Brooks, IM Angelo Young, WGM Sabina Foisor and WIM Alisa Melekhina also have confirmed, with many more to come.

If you register before November 20, entry is only $99 for the three-day option and $98 for the two-day option. After November 20, it will cost $119 for the three-day option and $118 for the two-day option. There will be a re-entry option available for $60.

This event will be a FIDE-rated, six-round, G/120 event in three sections: Open, U1800 and U1400. The prize breakdown is as follows:

· Open:

o   Overall: $1,600-$1,000-$600-$400

o   U2400: $550-$450

o   U2200: $500-$300

o   U2000: $450-$250

·      U1800:

o   Overall: $1,000-$500-$300

o   U1600: $450-$250

·      U1400:

o   Overall: $1,000-$500-$300

o   U1200: $250-$150

o   U1000: $225-$125

On November 13, the club will host a special $5 Satellite to the Thanksgiving Open in which three seats will be awarded, one in each of the following sections: 1800+, 1400-1799, and U1400. This will be a three-round, Swiss-paired, G/90 event.

Legendary GM Nigel Short will put on a special lecture following the Thanksgiving Open tournament on Monday, November 29 at 6 p.m. The event will be free for club members but will cost $10 for non-members. The lecture will be followed by a simul exhibition, in which Short will take on all comers. The simul will also be free for members of the CCSCSL, but will cost non-members $10.
