Andrew Hubbard, World Amateur Champion, Photo Betsy Dynako
Andrew Hubbard (USA) of Illinois won the World Amateur Chess Championship with a score of 7.5/9. Along with the title goes the first place prize of $3,000, the FM title, a rating of FIDE 2200, and a scholarship to TTU.

Fan Yun (USA) of Indiana, participant in the 2009 US Women's Chess Championship won out on tie breaks against Anu Bayar (MGL) for the title of Women's World Amateur Chess Champion. Along with the title goes $800 (split of combined 1st and 2nd place prize), the WFM title, a rating of FIDE 2050, and a scholarship to TTU.
