The latest activity requirements for qualification into the US Chess Championship are as follows:
US CHAMPIONSHIP ACTIVITY REQUIREMENT: Players must play a minimum of 15 USCF-rated games against players rated over 2200 in the 12 months prior to invitation, with at least 8 of these games taking place in the U.S. Matches, private tournaments, and games at a faster time control than G/30 are not counted.
US WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP ACTIVITY REQUIREMENT: Players must play a minimum of 15 USCF-rated games against players rated over 2000 in the 12 months prior to invitation, with at least 8 of these games taking place in the U.S. Matches, private tournaments, and games at a faster time control than G/30 are not counted.
For Qualification to the 2010 Chess Olympiad (Sept.19-Oct.4, Khanty-Mansiysk, Rsusia), the USCF Board has passed the following motions: (See previous rules in pdf format here.)
1. For Olympiad qualification, the age based bonuses are changed to the following, based on the player's age as of Jan 1 of the Olympiad year: Age 21 and over: no bonus Age 20: 5 points Age 19: 10 points Age 18: 15 points Age 17: 20 points: Age 16: 25 points Age 15 or below: 30 points 2. The US Champion will be automatically entited to a place on each Olympic team.
On April 15, 2011, the USCF Executive Board approved the following:
The 2010 US Woman’s Olympiad Team qualified for participation in the 2011 Woman’s World Team Championship by their performance at the 2010 Olympiad. However, current regulations are unclear regarding the status of the reigning US Champion. In order to clarify this, the Board moves The 2011 US Woman’s Champion will be a member of the 2011 US Team for the 2011 Woman’s World Team Championship. If the 2011 Champion was not a member of the 2010 Woman’s Olympiad Team, the alternate will be replaced. The alternate, or the next in line due to a player declining their invitation, is determined by the Olympiad selection criteria. The August 2011 USCF and FIDE rating lists will be used in this selection. Passed 6-0 with Gary Walters absent and not voting. The 2010 US Olympiad Team did not qualify for the 2011 World Team Championship via performance at the Olympiad. However, they were awarded a spot to represent the continental Americas. As such, USCF currently has no such rule governing this situation. In order to clarify, the Board moves
The 2011 US Team for representation in the 2011 World Team Championship will be selected by using
the current Olympiad Invitational Regulations. The USCF ratings will be determined as the post-
tournament rating from the 2011 US Championship. The FIDE rating will be determined from the May
FIDE supplement. The 2011 US Champion will be invited to be a member of the team.
Passed 6-0 with Gary Walters absent and not voting.
