Every year, US Chess
sends the strongest young chess players in the country to represent the United
States at the World Youth Chess Championship. The 2015 team will be the largest
US delegation in history, with 123 players currently registered. Thanks to a
generous sponsorship from Two Sigma Investments, the 2015 team will be sporting
custom designed uniforms when they travel to Greece in October to compete against
teams from around the world.
"A team uniform gives players and coaches a feeling of unity, a sense of being a meaningful part of the group representing the United States at the world championships," said US Chess Co-Head of Delegation Aviv Friedman. "It is a source of pride for all who wear it."
"Chess is huge part of Two Sigma's culture and we are proud to support the up-and-coming generation of accomplished chess enthusiasts," said Kelly M. Howard, SVP of Marketing and Communications. "We believe strongly in the power of chess, and the game's ability to help build critical thinking and analytical skills. We wish the US team great success at the Championships."
The uniforms, custom designed by Two Sigma, have already received numerous compliments from parents, players and coaches.
"The designs look great and very professional," said parent Young-Kyu Yoo. "I think they'll be worth at least 100 FIDE rating points per player during the competition!"
