World Under 18 Champion Steven Zierk, Photo Shaun Smith
Steven Zierk takes gold at the World Youth Championship in Greece! In the final round, Zierk won while his Armenian rival Samvel Ter-Sahakyan  finally lost pace, allowing Zierk to pass him without the need to crunch tiebreaks. For this, Steven earns a Grandmaster norm and the IM title! Steven also posted a huge 9.5/11 score along with a 2700+ FIDE performance rating. Congratulations!

In the Under 10, Jeffrey Xiong tied for first in points (9/11) in the Under 10 and took silver on tiebreak, with Jason Cao of Canada taking home gold. Kayden Troff also nabbed a silver in the Under 12! Full story by Shaun Smith coming soon with photos and full reportage of the US delegation. See final standings and games on chessresults.com or the official website.
