*Robert W. Feit (1931-2010)*

Robert W. Feit, a former USCF member from Otsego, Minnesota, died January 25, 2010. He was 78. He was born in Minnesota on April 16, 1931, the son of William and Elma Feit. 

He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served at Fort Riley, Kansas. He graduated from Syracuse University. He studied music with Finnish cellist and conductor Tauno Hannikainen (1896-1968) in Duluth, Minnesota, where he composed a symphony at age 11. He later studied with American composer, cellist and avid chess player Robert Gross (1914-1983). Mr. Feit enjoyed a 42-year career as a violist in the Minnesota Orchestra. 

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patricia Feit; two children, Patrick Feit and Nikki Kelly; two grandchildren, Emily and Peter Kelly; and a sister, Mary Sue Meyers. His funeral was held January 28 in Central Lutheran Church in Elk River, Minnesota. Burial was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
