Joseph J. Kennedy (1933-2013)

Joseph J. Kennedy passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 17, 2013 at age 79. He was the beloved husband of the late Jeanne M. (Graham) Kennedy and they were married 54 years.

Born in Phila., Joe was the son of Joseph A. and Gertrude (Mullen) Kennedy and was a long time resident of Abington Township, PA.

He was the loving father of Kathleen Vagnoni (David), Karen Accardi (Carlo), Colleen Cotsis (Louis), Julianne LaRue (Drew) and the late Sharon Long (John). He was the cherished grandfather of Daniel Vagnoni, John, Joseph, Carly, Carlo, Paul, Sharyn and Hayley Accardi, Joseph, Elias and Maria Cotsis, and Graham and Mitchel LaRue. He was the dear brother of Kathleen O'Brien, Gertrude Nelson, Mary Lydon, and the late Antoinette Cannon, Joan Fadigan and James Kennedy. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Joe served our country as a U.S. Marine from 1951 to 1953 and worked as a steamfitter for Philadelphia Local 420. He and his wife were members of St. John of the Cross Parish. An avid bowler, he played for the Calvary and Elder Med Leagues. He was a member of the U.S. Chess Federation and played in many tournaments with his team the "Mulligan's".

Relatives and friends are invited to Joe's Life Celebration on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at St. John of the Cross Church, 2801 Woodland Ave., Roslyn, PA 19001 from 9-11:15 A.M. followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 A.M. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
