I am deeply saddened to inform each of you of Daren Lee Dillinger’s passing on June 7, 2011.He was 65 years old, loved Chess and everything about it, loved comic books and loved his friends and family.

He is survived by three children, Daren E., Annelisa, and Chris and five grandchildren with one on the way. We, the family, want to thank you for your condolences, kind words, and sharing of your special memories of our father. I cannot thank each of you enough for your assistance, kindness and love you have shown our father.

Daren was an enthusiastic supporter of chess his whole life. He had many articles published and some won awards. His highest chess rating was 1963.


Partial list of the offices & positions he held:

  • The Pasadena Chess Club secretary 2003
  • Daren also served as both FCA Vice-president to Miller, as well as Assistant Editor during 1975-76
  • One of several Editors 1973-74 (edited some partial issues of Florida Chess News)
  • Chess Journalist of America Vice President 2003-2007
  • Current President of the Jacksonville Chess Club
