The National K-12 Grades Chess Championships will take place at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando, Florida, 12 – 14 December.  The Blitz and Bughouse Championships will take place on Thursday, 11 December.

Before the start of the main event on Friday, six-time U.S. Women’s Champion, GM Irina Krush, will play a 30-board simul (see full details in this previous article).   Later that day, starting at 2:30 PM, Irina will be available for a “take-on-all-comers” Blitz where players can sit down and play 5-minute games with her.  On Saturday at 4:30 PM, Irina will give a lecture.  After the lecture, she will be available for a group Questions-and-Answers (Q&A) session.  Only a few spots remain for GM Krush’s simul.

The event is just over a month away and registrations are picking up.  The early registration fee is available until tomorrow, November 10th.  One week after that is the deadline for the availability of the chess rate at the Rosen Shingle.  The hotel is filling up fast as almost 80 percent of the room block has already been reserved!

Fast-improving WIM Danitza Vazquez Maccarini from Puerto Rico will be there as well, challenging the top players in the 9th Grade Division.
