The National Open is the Main Event at the Las Vegas Chess Festival (June 12-15) but the action kicked off in high gear on Thursday with the US Women's Open and a Grandmaster Chess Camp. GM Wesley So also gave a simul (after the Capablanca Memorial, So is now #16 in the World!) while GM Timur Gareev gave a blindfold simul.

GMs Alejandro Ramirez & Carlos Matamoros tied for first at the National G/10 Championships (Quick Champs).
