Watch October cover star 12-year-old Annie Wang in the Championship battle against 17-year-old Jessica Regam at an all-girls session of the US Chess School at the STL Chess Club.
You can watch all the game on USCS founder Greg Shahade's You Tube channel. My favorite was this victory by 14-year-old Rachel Ulrich, who showed great opening preparation and sportsmanship in this battle against a talented 11-year-old. When I asked her who her toughest opponent was, she immediately answered the player sitting across from her, "Emily Nguyen."
This session of the USCS coincided with the opening of the Bobby Fischer at the World Chess Hall of Fame. The girls from the school enjoyed the opening, especially the corner set aside for studying Bobby Fischer books and games!
I also gave a lecture at the STL Chess Club which featured some of the puzzles I showed at the All-Girls class, as well as a game from Chess Club founder Rex Sinquefield.
