Shankland225.jpgThe Pan-American team Championships are underway in Brazil. The US team got off to a good start with two wins against Cuba & Brazil. GM Sam Shankland, scored the sole victory for the US team in the first round match against Cuba, said, "This was probably our hardest match."

The Pan American Continental is an official FIDE team tournament which qualifies one team from North and South America to the World Team Championship.
