The National G/60 and G/30 Championships kick off a week of chess action in the Chicago area. In addition to the G/60 , which takes place today and the G/30 which occurs tomorrow, the 23rd FIDE Invitational (August 22-26) is underway with four GMs participating. Organizer Sevan Muradian is particularly excited to see if IMs Ben Finegold and Sam Shankland can make score their final GM norms and if IM Ray Robson can score his second. Sevan is also proud of one IM-elect playing, Felecan, who scored, "all three IM norms at my events."

See updates and pairings on the official website and look for thoughts from IM Ben Finegold and photos from Betsy Dynako later in the event.
