The World Cup qualifiers have been announced by FIDE. Americans who already qualify include defending World Cup Champion Gata Kamsky, five spots from the 2009 U.S. Championship, Nakamura, Hess, Akobian, Onischuk and Shulman and 2008 Continental Champion GM Jaan Ehlvest.

Those who just missed out will get another chance at the 2009 Continental Championships (Sao Paulo, Brazil, July 25-August 2), which qualifiers an extra SIX places. Our top five official Continental contenders get free room and board, but anyone over 1800 ELO is eligible to play. Read more details here.
