The greatest chess legend of our time, Garry Kasparov will be the keynote speaker at the 2009 SuperNationals (Nashville, Tennessee April 3-5) opening ceremony. The Opening Ceremony will take place before the first round on April 3, Friday, 1 PM.  Kasparov will also make the first move on the top board of the High School section in round one, and the first move on board one of the Junior High School section in round two.

But it's not just the top players who can enjoy Kasparov's presence. Kasparov will be giving a lecture on Saturday, April 4 at 3 PM, "My Life in Chess." The lecture will last about a half hour and will be followed by a Q+A session, "Ask Garry Kasparov." Ask Kasparov about anything from training methods, to his life in politics to how he stayed on top of the chess world for 20 years. The Q+A session is also open to parents and journalists.

Be sure to bring your copies of My Great Predecessors, Life Imitates Chess and other Kasparov books to Nashville. Book signing and autograph sessions will take place on Friday, April 3 at 3 PM and Saturday, April 4, right after his lecture and Q+A.

Kasparov's visit is in conjunction with the Kasparov Chess Foundation (KCF) and United States Chess Federation. Also see the initial press release and go to the KCF website to read more about Garry Kasparov's chess activities in the United States.
