 Yury Shulman and Alexander Onischuk advanced in today's tiebreak playoffs. Meanwhile Gregory Kaidanov and Varuzhan Akobian were eliminated. Check the official website for complete results.

According to the fide website's pairing tree (which is strangely not published on the actual tournament site's website), round three pairings for the American team will be:

Shulman-Shirov

Onischuk-Nikolic

Avrukh-Kamsky

And Onischuk took out Andirasian in a 126 move game, then drew the second game to clinch the rapid match and advance to round 2.

Varuzhan was about to be eliminated when he won the following game, propelling the match into an Armageddon playoff:

Akobian got Black in the Armageddon match, so he had five minutes and draw odds while Roiz had the white pieces plus six minutes but had to win to advance.
