After a rest day at the Olympiad, American teams had a strong round winning vs. Paraguay and Estonia 3-1.

"The scenery is outstanding in Tromso," said coach IM John Donaldson, as evidenced by photos such as the above one by Tatev Abrahamyan, taken at night.

GM Shankland increased his sweep to 5-0 while Varuzhan Akobian bounced back from two losses with a victory.

Tomorrow, the American men will play Uzbekistan.

In a battle of the #1 and #3 players in the World, Magnus Carlsen defeated Fabiano Caruana with the Scandinavian Defense. The two will face each other two more times later this month in the Sinquefield Cup.

On the women's team, Sabina Foisor stayed perfect while Anna Zatonskih also notched a victory.

The women will face Armenia in round seven, which should be a crucial match-up.
