HikaruLondon.jpgCongratulations to our top player and World #3 GM Hikaru Nakamura, champion of the London Chess Classic (December 7-15). This year's event split sixteen players into four groups, followed by three rounds of Knockout. After winning against Nigel Short in the quarterfinals and former World Champion Vladimir Kramnik in the semifinals, Nakamura faced Gelfand in a thrilling finale.

The match began with a Grunfeld, in which Hikaru fought back against Black's initiative.

The second game was another exciting tactical battle, this time a King's Indian. After a flurry of tactics, Nakamura had two pawns for the exchange. The game ended in a draw, securing him the title.
