Rex Sinquefield, the founder of the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis with Jeanne Sinquefield, will be inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame on Sunday, January 29 in Springfield, MO. In 2011, the Sinquefields furthered their promotion of chess by opening the World Chess Hall of Fame, which coincided with the unveiling of the chess Merit Badge, a project spear-headed by Jeanne Sinquefield. Find more information on the website of Slay & Associates and see a chess.com blog entry by Sean Trani on why this is a key advancement for the idea of chess as a sport.
