Tournament Information

  • 7SS, G/90, 14 Sections
  • $52 / participant (postmarked by 11/21)
  • $70 later or at site
  • $5 extra for all registrations placed by phone
  • $20 change fee for roster or section changes after 11/7 or any onsite changes.
  • December rating supplement used
  • Play only in your grade or college section
  • 1/2 point bye available any round if requested in advance (except Round 7)
  • Team score = total of top 3 (min 2) finishers from each school per grade
  • 1st place individual & team will be National Champion for their grade
  • Blitz Tournament
  • Bughouse Tournament
  • Simul with GM Maurice Ashley, Friday December 2 at 9am. Onsite registration only.
  • Lecture, Saturday at 12:30pm with GM Maurice Ashley
  • Autograph sessions: Friday afternoon and Saturday morning in the bookstore.
  • Sunday 10:30 Lecture with David MacEnulty, "Knights of the South Bronx, The Making of a Chess Movie."

Awards

  • Trophies to (minimum) top 10 individuals & top 5 teams in each Grade. Many other class prizes.
  • Blitz: Trophies in K-6 and K-12 sections, individual and team
  • Bughouse: trophies for Bughouse, 1-25th place

    Returns - The shuttle departs from the hotel at 10 and 40 minutes past the hour. Allow 2 ˝ hours before the flight for travel and check-in. The Hilton Americas- Houston is the last stop on the shuttle route after stopping at two other hotels before departing the downtown district.
