Scholastic Chess: My Coach is the Best
My Coach is the Best Because.... Kids, do you think that your chess coach is the best? The USCF believes that all coaches are the best. They are mostly volunteers who love the game or teachers and parents who can see the educational benefits of learning this game. We would like to recognize every coach individually. That's just what our Coach's Spotlight will do.

Write a 150 word essay that tells us what your coach does for your club and why your coach has made the club the best. If you have any pictures of your coach or your club that would be great. Then the U S Chess Federation will recognize these wonderful people on our website.

Tim Droulette-New York

My Coach

My coach is Mr. Droulette. Without him I probably would not know how to play chess. He dedicates a lot of time to chess and the boys and girls in the chess club, but does not get paid. He is a nice person and I can ask him a question if I'm confused.

Mr. Droulette teaches us many things about chess. He teaches us what to do when certain things happen. He also taught us to take three deep breaths to get oxygen to our brain. Mr. Droulette is very understanding. He would understand why you might be upset or hurt in some way.

The best thing about my coach is he's a lot of fun. Mr. Droulette is always happy when we have chess proctice or a tournament. He wants us to have fun playing chess. Mr. Droulette doesn't get mad when we don't win. As long as we played fair and did our best he's happy. After we loose a game he helps us see where we could have made a better move so we can do better next time.
