Eric Channing Allen - October 17, 1985-February 2, 2004

Channing Allen, member of the Morgan County High School chess team, passed away on February 2, 2004 from injuries sustained in a car accident while on his way to school.

He was the son of Eric and Pam Allen of West Liberty, Kentucky, and Melinda Jean Wilson Allen of Wrigley, Kentucky. Eric Channing Allen

Channing had been a member of the Morgan County chess program since the fourth grade. He was a vital part of the high school team, having played all four years. Chan was undefeated in his last two tournaments, scoring nine wins and a draw. In his most recent outing, he finished in second place in the Quad D Regional Tournament. During his high school years he added almost 300 points to his rating. He also finished in the top five in almost every tournament he played in during those years. In 2002, he was a member of the Morgan County High School team that placed seventh in the National High School Chess Championships. As a player and friend, Channing will be missed. —Lee Armstrong
