USCF Executive Board Motions from Feb. 26, 2005 Teleconference
EB -36 (Marinello) The Executive Board authorizes President Beatriz
Marinello to sign the contract with the architect in Crossville.
Passed. 3-2 In favor: Marinello, Shaughnessy and Bauer;
Opposed: Brady and Schultz; Absent: Hanke and Shutt
Don Schultz said he voted against it because there was no written legal sign-off.
Beatriz replied that they got a verbal assessment from Harry Sabine who is an attorney and it is a standard contract.
EB -37 (Bauer) For the 2005 election for submission of candidate
statements for Executive Board, all candidates must comply with the written deadline
for submission of candidate statements and material. Requests for exceptions to the
written guidelines must be made in writing to the Secretary and state a reason that
an exception should be granted. Any exception to the written guidelines must be
approved by a majority of members of the Executive Board.
Passed. 3-2 In favor: Marinello, Shaughnessy and Bauer;
Opposed: Brady and Schultz; Absent: Hanke and Shutt
Randy Bauer said that he thinks it is important that all of us abide by written guide
lines and that we don’t grant exceptions on a case by case basis unless there is some
kind of organizational standard that is met and that is what this does. It says that
if there are going to be exceptions granted, they have to be approved by the Board
rather than any one individual
Don Schultz said that he must advise the Board that this motion is an assumption of
authority that the Board does not have.
Randy Bauer countered by saying that he had two lawyers review his motion and they
said it did not violate their authority and was appropriate.
