Now if 19 ... Rxc1+ 20 Bxc1, the White queen on a4 peers down at e8, immobilizing the Black knight on f6. White has maintained his advantage. Also, Gurevich enjoys trying to convert space vs. time advantages because of the potentially sharp nature of these positions. Therefore, I do not think the offer of a double rook exchange was any kind of prelude to a peace offering. (Have a question? Ask GM Rohde!
