Position after 14. Qg4

Previous Next

deFirmian is not in the mood for caution. He wants to know where Black's king will be living. As always, 14 ... Qxc3 is useless; White would just play 15 Bb2. There are many possibilities here, including 14 ... Kf8,14 ... g6, 14 ... g5 and 14 ... O-O-O. Notice that White is also starting to get some ideas about Nd4xe6 in some positions. (Have a question? Ask GM Rohde! Not all questions can be answered, but the Grandmaster will pick selected topics to cover live from e-mail received.)
