A painfully passive move. I think 17 d4 was better, even though White would not be able to oppose bishops. But then 17 ... Nb5 18 Be3 Nc7 (18 ... Nxd4?? 19 Nxd4 Bxd4 20 Rd1) 19 Nd3 is fine. Or 17 ... Nf7 18 Be3 Bb7 19 Qe2 and White plays for Ne5 at the right moment. (Have a question? Ask GM Rohde!
