Position after 7. Qe1

Previous Next

In the Grand Prix, a central motif is the White queen's trip from d1 to e1 and then h4. Generally, White does not have the central influence to really make the break e4-e5 stick. In contrast to lines where Black has played ... e7-e6, here White does not have to worry about the central counter ... d5, so this position moves at a slower pace than the ... e6 lines of the Grand Prix. (Have a question? Ask GM Rohde! Not all questions can be answered, but the Grandmaster will pick selected topics to cover live from e-mail received.)
