Position after 4... Bb7

Previous Next

Seirawan probably was willing to play the very sharp variation after 4 Nc3 Bb4, but here he refrains from 4 ... Bb4+ because 5 Nbd2 is likely to give White a slight edge as any exchange of the Black dark-squared bishop for a White knight will not double White's pawns. (Have a question? Ask GM Rohde! Not all questions can be answered, but the Grandmaster will pick selected topics to cover live from e-mail received.)
