Position after 14... exd5

Previous Next

On 14 ... Nxd5, White might have tried the immediate 15 c4. After the text, White has one more move of breathing room before Black plays ... Bd7-f5, as currently that would lose the d-pawn to Bd3xf5. Also, the d7 bishop could travel to g4, in which case White would have to pose the question instantly (with h2-h3) as to what the bishop's intentions are. (Have a question? Ask GM Rohde! Not all questions can be answered, but the Grandmaster will pick selected topics to cover live from e-mail received.)
